Deadly Negligence Under Urga Overbridge: Speeding Bus Kills One, Two Critically Injured
Lok pulse nuwes Korba: A tragic road accident under the Bharatmala Overbridge on the Korba–Champa highway in Urga area has once again exposed serious traffic mismanagement and administrative negligence. A speeding bus ran over a motorcycle carrying three persons on Monday, killing one on the spot and leaving two others critically injured.
The horrific incident created panic in the area as angry locals gathered at the accident site. Traffic movement came to a standstill for a long time, leading to massive congestion on the highway. Police later reached the spot, shifted the injured to hospital, and tried to control the situation.
Local residents blamed the continuous roadside parking of coal-loaded trailers linked to the Adani Power Plant for the worsening road conditions. According to locals, heavy vehicles remain parked on both sides of the road, with several trucks allegedly occupying the wrong lane, making the stretch extremely dangerous for commuters.
Residents claimed that repeated complaints regarding traffic chaos and accident risks were ignored by the concerned authorities. Shockingly, warnings about a possible major accident had already surfaced a day before the tragedy, but no preventive measures were taken.
After the collision, the bus driver reportedly fled from the scene along with the vehicle. Police are currently searching for the absconding driver and attempting to identify the deceased and injured victims.
The incident has triggered public outrage, with locals demanding strict action against illegal roadside parking and immediate steps to improve traffic management before more innocent lives are lost.
